When we wandered towards this small village called Dornie, we bumbled into a young Scottish kid.
This little man talked with us for a while about his cat and school. He was also nice enough to point us the way to Eileen Donan. Two strangers in this village and this kid being so kind, can you imagine how happy we were?
He made us even more happy when he showed us a secret path uphill. “Shhh... don’t tell anybody cause it’s secret” . At first, it did not look like a path, but when we walked further we reached a paved street. We enjoyed the fresh air, no tourists, no cars, not even another human being. Then suddenly we came to a point where we had the best view of the castle, Eileen Donan. This castle which was founded in the 13th century has been featured in different movies, is part of Scottish history and for some a stopover towards Skye. We hiked back to catch the last bus to Inverness.
I promised this kid that I would keep the hiking trail a secret, but if you are in Dornie, go ahead and ask the locals. Perhaps you will bump into this little man. I bet he will make your day.
